Aluminium Gravity Die Casting

Find out more about what we do.

What is die casting?

Die casting is a metal casting process in which molten metal is forced under high pressure into a mold cavity. It is efficient, economical and offers a broader range of shapes and components than any other manufacturing technique.

As well as producing durable, heat resistant parts with a long service life, die casting is also a high-speed process which can deliver quick and accurate results in multiple finishes.

Aluminium Gravity Die Casting

These castings are produced by pouring molten metal into a permanent metal (typically cast iron) mould under gravity which creates chill castings.

Set up costs are significantly cheaper than high pressure aluminium Die Casting but does have a lower casting rate. Steel pins and inserts can be cast into your product and compared to sand casting there are improved mechanical properties.

High quality, low gas porosity castings can be made with this method but they come with a limited wall thickness of approximately 5mm and limited options for complex shapes.
